Meet Leo, the Heart Behind Samra Knots
Leo's a special part of our family, and he brings comfort to my creative space. He's my fluffy little assistant. He often curls by the cord pile during late-night knotting sessions. Sometimes, he even subtly appears in product shoots with his calm demeanor and curious gaze.
Yet, in February 2025, our lives took an unexpected and profound turn. A car tragically hit Leo. He vanished for nearly 24 agonizing hours.
When we finally located him, he was barely breathing. The impact shattered his jaw; his tongue was severely swollen, and his small body was in a truly dire state.
This kicked off a tough time for us. We had to survive and get better. Through it all, we witnessed the incredible, heartwarming strength of community love. The experience truly redefined our understanding of resilience.

One week after surgery, he watched the world with great strength in his eyes. His spirit was truly like a lionheart.
The Accident That Shook Us
One cold, quiet February day, Leo vanished, leaving an immediate and unsettling emptiness.
We started a frantic search, calling his name again and again. We carefully checked every bush and street in our neighborhood.
After nearly 24 terrible hours of worry, we found him: bleeding, covered in mud, and barely conscious. The impact badly broke his jaw. We immediately rushed him to the emergency vet. His condition was bad, but we had desperate hope for his recovery.
Resting, recovering, and teaching us all what quiet bravery looks like.
A Long Road to Healing
Leo's recovery needed major surgery. Vets skillfully inserted metal plates into his jaw. For weeks, he required assistance with feeding. He needed dedicated, round-the-clock care and syringe feeding.
He remained remarkably quiet and physically weak. Yet, despite his condition, his calm, gentle, and brave spirit always shone through. His enduring resilience inspired us daily.
Then, in June, a new challenge emerged: infection around one of the plates. This bad problem led to another surgery. It brought a fresh wave of fear and anxiety for his well-being. Still, with astounding resilience, Leo pressed on, visibly growing stronger and braver each successive day.
The Community That Carried Us
The flood of love and steady support we received during that extremely trying time proved a huge help.
"Come on, Leo the Lionheart!", "You've definitely used all 9 lives", "We're behind you, Leo!," and "Such a brave boy".
These phrases were a great source of encouragement.
Every kind word, every donation, and every kind thought from afar proved helpful. Their support helped us greatly through the crisis. This steady support reminded us that we weren't alone. Leo became more than just my beloved cat; he became everyone’s special little lion.

One day, observing Leo as he peacefully rested by the window, a powerful inspiration struck me. I wanted to create a unique, real tribute just for him.
Using soft golden yarn, carefully chosen for its warmth, and adding simple, meaningful shapes, I carefully knotted a piece. I designed it to show his extraordinary strength and peaceful spirit.
This handcrafted tribute now prominently graces my studio. It serves as a daily reminder. This piece embodies the immense love and deep resilience that inspire Samra Knots. It fuels every creation that leaves my hands.
His powerful story includes moments of pain. Yet, it stands primarily as a profound testament to hope. It showcases lasting healing and the life-changing power of handmade love in our lives.
