Why a Handmade Car Diffuser?

  • Custom Comfort: Make your car a comforting space! This handmade accessory uses natural essential oils for a custom aroma, avoiding overpowering, artificial fresheners.

  • Boho Style: Its beautiful heart macrame design adds authentic boho style to your vehicle.

  • Mindful Crafting: It's quick, rewarding, and encourages mindful crafting, ideal for busy lifestyles.

Key Knot: The Diagonal Double Half Hitch

To create the curving lines of the heart shape, you will use the Diagonal Double Half Hitch Knot (DHH). This knot allows you to knot over a fixed cord (the Holding Cord) to create structural lines that can be curved, bent, or angled.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare Your Cords

  • Cut one cord at approximately 45 cm long. This will be your Hanging Loop.

  • Cut eight additional cords (30–35 cm each). These are your Working Cords for the heart shape.

2. Attach Cords to the Ring (Lark's Head Knot)

  • Fold the eight Working Cords in half and attach them to the 40mm wooden ring using the Lark’s Head Knot.

  • Place these knots closely together at the top of the ring. You will now have sixteen strands hanging down.

3. Sculpt Your Heart Shape (Diagonal Double Half Hitch) The heart shape requires two symmetrical arches that meet in the center.

  • Center Cords: Identify the two central cords. These will hang straight down and serve as Filler Cords.

  • Left Arch: Take the cord immediately to the left of the center. Angle it diagonally down and toward the center. This is your Holding Cord.

  • Knotting: Using the three cords next to it as Working Cords, tie a Double Half Hitch Knot onto the angled Holding Cord with each one.

  • Right Arch: Repeat the process on the right side. Take the cord immediately to the right of the center, angle it diagonally down and toward the center, and tie DHH knots onto it with the three cords next to it.

  • Join: Join the two arched sections by tying a final DHH knot where the two angled Holding Cords meet at the very bottom point of the curve.

4. Finish the Heart and Fringe

  • Narrow the Point: Continue the DHH knot down the sides, working toward the center to narrow the piece and form the point of the heart.

  • Gathering Knot: Once the piece is the desired length, gather all the remaining strands and tie a Gathering Knot or a simple, secure knot below the macrame work.

  • Brush & Trim: Comb or brush the cord strands below the knot to fluff the fringe. Trim carefully with sharp scissors until the fringe is soft and even.

5. Add the Hanging Loop & Scent

  • Thread the 45 cm Hanging Loop cord through the top of the macrame work on the ring.

  • Thread the wooden bead (if using) onto the loop cord.

  • Tie a secure knot at the top to form a loop for hanging.

  • Add a drop of your favorite essential oil onto the cotton cord or bead.

Your stylish car accessory, with its delightful fragrance, is now ready to enhance your drives.

Tips & Styling Ideas for Your New Charm
